These boilers are generally subjected to similar maintenance treatment as the smoke-tube boilers mentioned above.
Some of these boilers are accessible from the gas-side and the water-side for mechanical cleaning.
Some others are having equipment/system for water cleaning on the gas-side with a drain somewhere in the inlet to the exhaust gas side.
The "boiling out" as described for auxiliary smoke-tube boilers above can be well done in conjunction with exhaust gas boilers by operating the boiler-water circulating pump, since the water-circuit is common to/shared by both.
